September 15, 2018: Working on a new update of Book 1. I will come out about the same time Book 2 is published.

April 14, 2018: For Book 1, Version 1.07 is still the latest release. (Book 2 comments are below.)

January 23 2018: Version 1.07 has just been uploaded to KDP for the ebook and is now available. The title is still The Conscript. I will update the cover and title when I publish Book 2. I just uploaded a new print file to CreateSpace for the print book. It should be available by January 30 to order version 1.07 in print.

October 21, 2017: Sigh . . . the next update will not be until 2018. Life is happening hard and fast and sometimes I can’t fit writing in too.

August 19, 2017: The new updates are waiting for the release of Book 2. (Sometime this year.)

July 13, 2017: I still plan to change the name of the book (see below) and I may make a few changes to the story based upon reader feedback and reviewer’s comments. (Hope this all happens this year.) Currently, Version 1.06 is available to the public.

Jan 24, 2017: I am changing the book name from The Conscript to Avi Garza and the Talons of the Condor. Huge change. So the book cover will be redone at about the same time I publish book-2.

December 20, 2016: Using reader feedback, I am enhancing the beginning of the story with more action from Avi and a little less introspection. We still get to know Avi’s thoughts, but spread out in the story.

November 3, 2016: Finally had The Conscript ready to print . . . and . . . I’d have to charge $12 for the paperback book just to make $1 for me. So, I reduced the font size and was able to reduce the number of pages. I will be able to sell the book for $9.99 and make $1+. I feel better about that. DDD is remaking the book covers for the new page count and I hope to be able to order the new proof copies tomorrow. Yea!

I am actively seeking reviews of the book and yesterday received a 5-Star review from Reader’s Favorite. That is exciting!

September 7: The Conscript, I ordered the proof copies of the paperback from CreateSpace and was surprised by the number of formatting errors. I handed out copies to beta readers and they provided excellent feedback. I have corrected the formatting errors and I’ve updated the chronicles using the feedback received.  On September 6th I updated the ebook on Pronoun (my ebook publisher) and by the 7th I am seeing the new changes, version 1.03, already in several on-line book stores.

This is the third update through Pronoun so the five of you who purchased the ebook prior to Sept. 7th have an older version. Contact me through this website and we’ll figure out how to get you the updated version.

July 2016: I am working on this website now. Soon this page will tell of the current status of changes to The Conscript and will post updates on the progress of Marooned.

So, the short version is that The Conscript is in process of being printed by CreateSpace (for Amazon sales) and by IngramSpark (for all other printed book sales). I hope it will be available in these channels by the end of August 2016.  UPDATE- – ONLY available from Amazon: Nov 2019

Update on book-2: Marooned

Book 2: MAROONED

May 2021: After several life-changing events I am writing again. Book 2 has been through the first beta reading process and the second beta reading copies are being handed out now. No predictions.

March 2020: Editing continues (includes major changes)

November 2019: Still editing (I’m not dead yet!)

March 16, 2019: The draft went out to first-round beta readers and I am doing a rewrite with some good feedback and ideas.

September 15, 2018: A lot has happened, but not with the book. Book 2 will be published in 2019.

April 14, 2018: Well dang! Haven’t submitted to a structural editor yet. Book 2 is now 100% at very-rough draft stage, and 50 pages of 290 pages are at pretty-good rough draft stage. I have absolutely no guess as to how fast the work will continue. I have not predicted this very well in the past.

January 23, 2018: I hope to have the rough draft to the structural editor before the end of February.

October 21, 2017: So . . . the time off to support family continued until about Oct. 20th–and we may not be finished yet. We’ll know more in a month, but, in the meantime I should be able to get more writing done. I now hope to publish book-2 early in 2018.

August 19, 2017: Still plugging along–but–took a couple of months off to support family during an illness. But . . . this is a FUN book. Can’t wait to release it!

July 13, 2017: Work continues, but not as fast as I’d hoped. The story is really fun and I am excited to get this done and move on to book-3 before the end of the year.

January 24, 2017: The title of book-2 is changing from Marooned to Avi Garza and the Prey for the Heron. So — spoiler — in Spanish garza means heron. Note that the title is prey, not pray. The story will reveal the full meaning behind the title.

December 20, 2016: I will not complete the rough draft in 2016, but, WOW, I am having fun in the second book.

November 16, 2016: I took a few days off and read four more books on writing techniques and theory. I’m back to work now.

November 3, 2016: Still plugging away, but I am putting a LOT of time into the final details of publishing book-1. My goal is to have the first rough draft of MAROONED completed by the end 2016.

September 7: MAROONED is making slow progress, but most of my effort is going into the publication of the first book. I’m hurrying!
